THE TEMPLE OF GOD

Hi Everyone:

1st Corinthians 3:16 "Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you?"

Temple means us; we are the Church, i.e. the body of Christ. The Holy Spirit lives in each one who has accepted Jesus as Savior; this is the meaning of life; we live to accept Jesus as our personal Savior; we live in faith knowing He will be our intermediary on Judgment Day; this is the Good News of the day forevermore.

We can joyfully live all our days in praise of Him who has given us the gift of life in Jesus Christ, Amen. ("For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life") I sure hope and pray you are all in agreement with me on this truth.

I cannot convert those who read this message that are not born again, but I can pray for you and I do that daily. Eternity is such a long time; someone once told me it's forever (a little humor?).

The big question is the place to spend forever. Anyone can find the answer by:

WITHOUT THE SPIRIT

Hi Everyone:

1st Corinthians 2:14 "The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned."

Now we know why it is foolish to attempt to persuade someone of things that are spiritual in nature. Does this mean we should not tell others of the salvation that comes through believing in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ? Not at all; we are to be Sowers of the seed of salvation. We cannot nor we must not force anyone into believing what we believe; we do the plowing, planting, and the watering and God does the harvesting.

Let us walk in love and be a blessing to those we meet in every day life; this is a most effective method of persuading people who do not have the Spirit of God. It's much easier to do both if we:

DO YOU ACCEPT?

Hi Everyone:

1st Corinthians 1:2, 3 "To the church of God in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be holy, together with all those everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ-their Lord and ours: Grace and peace to you from God our Father and Jesus Christ." (Church means people, not a building)

Everyone is invited, no exceptions, but not everyone accepts the invitation to eternal life with Him. Some think one has to be chosen but that is not so; like a wedding many are invited but not all accept the invitation. God gave mankind free will and he doesn't want to interfere with their choices.

Grace (unmerited favor) is given to all. Even though we don't deserve to be saved God pours His grace upon those willing to accept His free gift of Jesus as Savior.

There is so much to be learned and gained by reading the Bible; this is His way of speaking to us so if you want to hear God speak; "Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ."

A DIRE WARNING

Hi Everyone:

Romans 16:17, 18 "I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teachings you have learned. Keep away from them. For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naïve people."

Paul's words to the Romans were appropriate then and are, in my opinion, more meaningful then ever. Today there are literally thousands of religions who would be the target of his message. They serve their own motives and not those of God. It is imperative, therefore, we keep a sharp eye and be ever watchful for those who appear as sheep but are, in reality, wolves, or better said workers for the devil.

My friends the best way to be armed, so to speak, is to be knowledgeable and the most effective way to achieve that is by:

ACCOUNTABILITY

Hi Everyone:

Romans 14:12 "So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God." There will be a time when this will become a reality for all. The big question at that time will be who will be your accountant?

On this earth I have a CPA and on judgment day I will also have a 'CPA;' the difference will determine where you will spend eternity. My 'CPA' will be a Certified Personal Advisor (guide, mentor or counselor). His name is Jesus Christ.

Certified because the Bible tells me so; Personal because I have accepted Jesus as my Savior; and Advisor because He guides me, mentor's me and counsel's me whenever I ask.

You too, can have Jesus as your 'CPA,' as your intermediary, when you stand before the Judge. The address of this 'CPA' is:

LOVE IS LAW

Hi Everyone:

Romans 13:8 "Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law." All the commandments are summed up in this one rule; "…love your neighbor as yourself," (verse 9).

Wouldn't it be wonderful if the world's people loved each other? While this is improbable, though possible, it'll never happen on this earth until the Lord comes back for His people and restores the earth to what he had intended in the first place; before the fall of man. The believers will live with Him forever in eternal bliss where love will be the highlight of the day, forever; what a wonderful thought to have each day.

However, we, as individuals can strive to live in the love God wants us to and be examples to the lost. In this way we just might win over a few more and that, my friends is what it's all about. For help in this area I would suggest you:

Hi Everyone:

Romans 12:9-13: "Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with God's people who are in need. Practice hospitality."

What could I or anyone else for that matter add to those words? There is much wisdom in these instructions that can only be God inspired. While my passion is to stay within the confines of salvation I could not do justice to this chapter unless I delivered word for word Paul's message of how Christians should live.

Exhibiting these characteristics in our daily lives is the greatest testimony of one's acceptance and commitment to the Lord.

HOW GOD SPEAKS

Hi Everyone:

Romans 10:17 "Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ." That is how God speaks to us; He left His 'voice' by giving us His Living Word. For those who might doubt this I suggest you heed my plea at the end of the message.

Verse 4 "Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes." There are religions today whose doctrine is the law which, as just quoted, became obsolete when Jesus came. They place unnecessary burdens upon the people; that's why Jesus said to follow Him because His 'yoke' was easy.

Verse 9 "That if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Can't be plainer than that.

This is powerful, effective scripture for non-believers and most encouraging for believers.

NO CONDEMNATION

Hi Everyone:

Romans 8:1, 2, "There is now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death."

The law could not save us; it was created solely for the purpose of exposing our sin nature. Before the law faith was required, as well as during the period of the law, and since the time of Jesus; nothing has changed. The Bible is very clear that faith in the key ingredient for salvation and not by works; which would be trying to do the impossible by following the law.

For those of us who have accepted Jesus as our personal Savior let us live in the anticipation and joy of knowing we will be with Him for eternity. If you think about it our eternity with Him began the moment we accepted God's free gift; never to lose.

For those who have yet to accept God's free gift I can only pray that you will before it is too late. Learn more about Jesus and the faith step by:

WHO WILL RESCUE ME?

Hi Everyone:

Romans 7:24, 25, "What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God-through Jesus Christ our Lord!" Paul was well aware of man's sinful nature and how natural it is to sin because of it; and makes his point that our only hope is Jesus.

We should be fully aware of the shrewdness of the devil and the fact that he and his demons are constantly at work trying to convince us of the benefit of sin (his benefit). It should also be understood that we cannot compete with him; he is powerful and our only hope to defeat him is Jesus.

For believers: We should call upon the Holy Spirit to help us and He will.

For non-believers: You have no way of defeating the devil unless you are a child of God.

You can become a child of God by accepting His gift to the world; as Paul says, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is our Redeemer and will rescue us.

WAGE OF SIN

Hi Everyone:

Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."  A simple statement of truth but it sure is easy for man to confound the world with all kinds of doctrine in various kinds of religions.

Personally I like Jesus' way; simple, easy (as he says; His yoke is easy…) and most important of all; unchanging.

An example of a subject that carries with it much confusion is Baptism; unless you read the Bible and what it has to say about it, it will be misunderstood. Verse 3: "Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?" Verse 4: "We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life."

Baptism depicts graphically what happens as a result of the Christian's union with Jesus, which comes by faith. It is through faith we are united with Christ as through our natural birth we are united with Adam.

Baptism does not absolve people from sin; it is symbolic of our acceptance of Jesus as Savior.

Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Jesus Christ." Verse 28 says, "For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from observing the law."

All have sinned. All are justified by faith (if one has it). We cannot be justified by upholding the law otherwise man could boast that it was something he did; therefore he wouldn't have needed faith or Jesus.

We should all thank God we don't have to earn our way to Him.

NATURAL LAW

Hi Everyone:

Romans 2: 14, The question of the fate of people who have never heard of the law or Jesus is discussed by Paul in verse 14; "Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do so by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law, since they show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness…"

In simple language: the (natural) law is in their heart, they instinctively follow their heart and their conscience is their guide. Verse 16 says God will be the judge to determine the hearts, minds and secrets of man, through Jesus Christ. Psalm 44:21 "would not God have discovered it, since he knows the secrets of the heart?"

CALL OF THE GENTILE

Hi Everyone:

Romans 1:1-4: "…for the gospel of God -  the gospel he promised beforehand through the prophets in the Holy Scriptures regarding his Son, who as to his human nature was a descendant of David, and who through the spirit of holiness was declared with power to be the Son of God by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord."

Paul declares his authority, given by God, to evangelize the Gentiles (verse 1) to deliver the Good News of salvation. His salutation in verse 7: "To all in Rome who are loved by God and called to be saints."

The Gentiles were called after the Jewish nation, for the most part, rejected God's Son. Are you one of the Gentiles to be called a saint? Would you like to be? How would you like to receive a personal invitation from God? You can and all you have to do is read John 3:16 and:

HARDENED HEARTS

Hi Everyone:

Acts 28:31 "Boldly and without hindrance he preached the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ." For two years Paul preached to the Jews in Rome, unfortunately he was preaching to people with hardened hearts. In fact he was preaching to them using scripture from the Old Testament; about the Law of Moses and the Prophets; however, some did believe. God did say He would heal them if they would listen.

People of little or no faith will never accept the truth of the Bible, but that doesn't mean we should stop trying. As Paul has said, we 'should preach in season and out of season' truths of the Bible. He told them 'God's salvation has been sent to the Gentiles.' God no longer deals with the Jewish nation as He did before the beginning of the Church Age; it is now the time of the Gentiles, it is the Church Age.

When God has a plan nothing will stand in its way; we should be comforted by His grace and mercy.

As Paul told them not to fear for their lives, we too ought to live our lives in the same way. We should remember we are part of His plan and it will be carried out to the letter. So why not believe and have confidence that we will be taken care of by Him? It will be so because He said so.

As we read Jesus' words it is 'by faith we are saved and not by works.' If it were by works man could boast, but no man can, no one can brag that he was good or earned his way into God's grace.  We are all sinners and in need of God's mercy which He extends o all those who, in faith, believe He is the Son of God and died and was resurrected for our salvation.

THE WAY

Hi Everyone:

Acts 24:14, "However, I admit that I worship the God of our followers as a follower of the Way." I have always wondered why we don't call born again believers members of the Way. There are several scriptural references to the Way being an organized group of people. John 14:6, Jesus said He was the way, the truth and the life; Acts 9:2, Paul went to Damascus to find Christians who belonged to the Way.

Of course I will admit a name does not make anyone a follower of Jesus; faith is required for that. Someone once asked me if we had a leader, someone similar to the Pope for Catholics? I told him we have no human leader but we do have a leader as it is simply stated in John 14:6 when Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." Thus our leader is Jesus Christ; He died for us and was resurrected for us so that we who believe will have everlasting life (John 3:16).

TAKE COURAGE

Hi Everyone:

Acts 23:11 "Take courage! As you have testified about me in Jerusalem, so you must also testify in Rome." The Lord spoke to Paul to encourage him to keep up the good fight, as Paul would say, and press on to deliver the Good News of salvation.

I'm sure there are times in our lives when we need encouragement to continue spreading the Good News of Jesus and the best place to get it is the Bible. We may not receive a pat on the back, so to speak, from others but you can be sure Jesus is watching and keeping track of everything you do for Him. It's kind of odd to imagine we are doing things for Him when in reality we are doing things for others and ourselves. I look forward to the day when I will meet, face to face, the many lives my ministry has touched, whether it's encouragement or even leading a lost soul to Jesus.

My passion is to help others and to honor God in the process. Whenever I receive a nasty reply from someone, I know the devil is behind it so it rubs off like water on a duck's back. Discouraging responses will never touch me because I look to Him and Him only. Actually I have a heavy heart for that kind of person because I know where they are going in the end unless they turn to Jesus; an opportunity they have until they take their last breath. Jesus says, "I have overcome the world." So who needs to worry or be concerned when winds of adversity blow our way. If you are down and need to be lifted try:

SAUL! SAUL!

Hi Everyone:

Acts 22:7, Jesus said: "Saul! Saul! Why do you persecute me?' On his way to Damascus he heard Jesus' voice, fell to the ground and became temporarily blind. He was instructed to go into the city and would be told what he was to do.

A man named Ananias greeted Paul and told Paul his sight would return and it did. Then he proceeded to tell Paul he was chosen by God to be His witness to the gentiles (verse 21). That was the beginning of an amazing change and journey of evangelism. Here we see a man whose dedication to the destruction of Gentiles probably had no equal and now he is just as adamant and passionate about delivering the Good News as he was persecuting them.

We have an awesome God don't we? When He has a plan for you be ready and don't hesitate. COURAGE OF CONVICTION

Acts 21:13, "Then Paul answered: 'Why are you weeping and breaking my heart? I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.'" These are the words of a very committed Disciple of Jesus; ready to die, actually ready for anything.

Do we have the courage of our convictions? Are we ready to stand tall under adversity when it comes our way? By the grace of God we are not in the kind of situation as Paul but there are Christians throughout the world that are being tortured and killed in the name of Jesus; last I heard was about 150,000 each year.

We need to pray for these people, they are our brothers and sisters in the Lord. These murders are some of the reasons God told the brethren in Heaven (Book of Revelation) the time is not right yet for His return. If I recall He said, "Many more have to be martyred." His love is unimaginable; He wants more people to be with Him.

Glory to God

In the book, Purpose Driven Life, Rick Warren does an outstanding job of 'The Reason For Everything.' I was so impressed by his approach that I felt compelled to 'borrow' a page from his book for this topic, which is actually putting into action his point number five.

The reason we are here and everything on the earth is really for the glory of God. Revelation 7:8 states 'You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power: for you created everything.' In all the universe there are only two of God's creations that fail to bring glory to Him: fallen angels (demons) and us (people).

How can we bring glory to God? Jesus told the Father, "I brought glory to you on earth by doing everything you told me to do." Therefore, as Jesus honored the father, we can also honor Him. There are actually five ways we can honor God in the very same way He honored the Father.

We can honor God by worshipping Him, not by duty or guilt, but out of love and appreciation.. Romans 12:1 tells us to present our bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. The next verse tells us not to be conformed to this world, but rather be conformed to the things of God. The bottom line is that we are to "use our whole body as a tool to do what is right for the glory of God," Romans 6:13.

We can honor God by loving other believers. There are three wonderful verses of scripture that Rick Warren touches on: "Our love for each other proves that we have gone from death to life," 1 John 3:14, "Accept each other just as Christ has accepted you; then God will be glorified," Romans 15:7, and finally as Jesus said, "As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." I would encourage you all to read 1st Corinthians 13, a great description of love.

We can honor God by developing Christ-like characteristics. When we become part of God's family He wants us to mature spiritually. The more we mature as spiritual Christians, the more honoring it is to God. The Bible says, "As the spirit of God works within us, we become more and more like Him and reflect His glory even more," 2nd Corinthians 3:18. The Bible also tells us that we should always be filled with the fruit of  the Holy Spirit because that is pleasing to God, Philippians 1:11.

We can honor God by serving others. God has blessed each one of us with certain gifts and it would certainly be honoring to God to use our gifts in the service of others. 1st Peter 4:10 tells that …' God has given gifts to each of you from His great variety of Spiritual gifts…manage them well…this will bring glory to God.'

We can bring glory to God by telling others about Him, just as Jesus did. This has to be viewed as one of life's greatest privileges. Once we know the truth, He expects us to share. Perhaps the most effective method of telling others is to live the first four points of this message; however we must always be ready to tell others with love and respect. A point to ponder is where we would be if someone didn't vocalize the way of salvation to us. The Bible says, "As God's grace brings more and more people to Christ…God will receive more and more glory.

AND THIS IS THE REASON WE ARE HERE, PRAISE THE LORD.

TO GIVE OR RECEIVE?

Hi Everyone:

Acts 20:35…."It is more blessed to give than to receive." Jesus said these words, not only verbally, but in action. Did He leave Heaven to help us? Did He minister and heal people while He was here? Did He suffer for you and me while He was here? Did he give up His life for you and me while he was here? Was He resurrected to fulfill prophecy for you and me? Has He made it easy for us to be saved?

I know, as you all know, the answers to these questions. What have we given lately? We have such an opportunity while we are here waiting to be with Him, so why not be a giver from now on and not a taker? There are so many different ways to give; many think of money but that is the least of all the more meaningful things we can do.

You can think of many ways to give, I would like to suggest the two most important; Love, honor and worship God and love your neighbor as you would yourself. If you would do that, especially the second one everything will fall in place. Indeed you will be a giver and no longer a taker. The wonderful result of giving is the precious warm feeling you will receive when you do. Spreading the Good News is giving the best of gifts.

WHOSE BAPTISM?

 Hi Everyone:

Acts 19:3, So Paul asked, "Then what baptism did you receive?" They (actually they were Disciples) replied it was John's baptism which was a baptism of repentance and not salvation. There is confusion regarding baptism but the Bible is very clear on this subject. In verse 4 Paul confirms what I just said and when they realized what Paul said they were immediately baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus and received the Holy Spirit as all believers do.

When one confesses their sin to God and accepts Jesus into their heart as Lord and Savior they become a born again Christian; this is the only way to salvation; John 14:6. Some religions baptize children when they are born but this has nothing to do with salvation. How can a baby confess sin and ask Jesus to come into their heart?

Matters such as this are the reason I try desperately to admonish people to:

We, too, are protected by God, we need not fear when we speak the Good News as I hope you all do when opportunity arises. Some Christians believe the life they live is sufficient to 'tell' others about Jesus. I disagree, I believe we should all live exemplary lives testifying of a changed life, but w e also need to use our mouth when opportunity presents itself. PROOF

Acts 17:2, "As his custom was, Paul went into the synagogue, and on three Sabbath days he reasoned with them from the scriptures, explaining and proving that the Christ had to suffer and rise from the dead. This Jesus I am proclaiming to you is the Christ."

It's interesting to note Paul proving Jesus is who He claims to be from the Old Testament; again illustrating the fulfillment of prophecy. Statements made hundreds, if not thousands of years ago, and being fulfilled in Him. How anyone can deny Jesus was indeed the Messiah is beyond me, but as Jesus has said, "You don't know me because you don't know my Father."

To know the Father is to know Jesus and to know Jesus is to know the Father.

PATIENCE

Hi Everyone:

Acts 16:28, But Paul shouted, "Don't harm yourself we are all here." Paul and Silas were in prison because of preaching the Good News, a violent earthquake shook the prison and the chains flew off Paul and the doors opened. Upon realizing what occurred the jailer became frightened and was about to kill himself (he would have been killed if the prisoners escaped) when Paul screamed those words. When the jailer was convinced everything was okay he asked Paul what he must do to be saved. Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns all night; Paul told him to believe, he did and he and his whole household were saved.

I would imagine most people in Paul's position would have escaped when the chains flew off and the prison doors opened, but he waited upon the Lord resulting in souls being saved and their eventual release when the authorities realized they were Roman citizens.

The lesson to be learned here is to trust in the Lord, be patient and allow God's plan to unfold. Trusting in the Lord and developing patience is much easier when you:

NO DISTINCTION

 Hi Everyone:

Acts 15:9-10, "He made no distinction between us (Jews) and them (Gentiles), for he purified their hearts by faith. Now then, why do you try to test God by putting on the necks of the disciples a yoke that neither we nor our fathers have been able to bear?" (Inability to keep the commandments)

By the grace of God all people can be saved through faith in Jesus. Salvation in accordance with the Bible does not require any additional burdens that the religious community will place on its members. Jesus left us with 2 commandments: Love Him and love your neighbor as you would yourself, period and end of story.

DOES THE LAW JUSTIFY?

Acts 13:39, "Through him (Jesus) everyone that believes is justified from every thing you could not be justified from by the law of Moses." While in the Synagogue Paul was asked to speak, he complied and gave them a history lesson based on their own people, reminding them that the law could not justify their sins. He is telling them the only way of salvation is through Jesus. They were interested enough to invite him for a return engagement the following Sabbath.

This time Paul realized they were not going to accept his message and they were being abusive towards him. He said to them, 'Since you reject it (Jesus) we now turn to the Gentiles. That is what the Lord has commanded us, see verse 47.

Another reminder that faith alone is necessary for salvation; law (religion), righteousness and works have never provided salvation and never will according to the Bible. Jesus fulfilled (replaced) the law.
