PATIENCE

Hi Everyone:

Acts 16:28, But Paul shouted, "Don't harm yourself we are all here." Paul and Silas were in prison because of preaching the Good News, a violent earthquake shook the prison and the chains flew off Paul and the doors opened. Upon realizing what occurred the jailer became frightened and was about to kill himself (he would have been killed if the prisoners escaped) when Paul screamed those words. When the jailer was convinced everything was okay he asked Paul what he must do to be saved. Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns all night; Paul told him to believe, he did and he and his whole household were saved.

I would imagine most people in Paul's position would have escaped when the chains flew off and the prison doors opened, but he waited upon the Lord resulting in souls being saved and their eventual release when the authorities realized they were Roman citizens.

The lesson to be learned here is to trust in the Lord, be patient and allow God's plan to unfold. Trusting in the Lord and developing patience is much easier when you:

NO DISTINCTION

 Hi Everyone:

Acts 15:9-10, "He made no distinction between us (Jews) and them (Gentiles), for he purified their hearts by faith. Now then, why do you try to test God by putting on the necks of the disciples a yoke that neither we nor our fathers have been able to bear?" (Inability to keep the commandments)

By the grace of God all people can be saved through faith in Jesus. Salvation in accordance with the Bible does not require any additional burdens that the religious community will place on its members. Jesus left us with 2 commandments: Love Him and love your neighbor as you would yourself, period and end of story.

Why not discover the truth by reading the Bible yourself, it's all there, Nick                           Number 366

DOES THE LAW JUSTIFY?

Acts 13:39, "Through him (Jesus) everyone that believes is justified from every thing you could not be justified from by the law of Moses." While in the Synagogue Paul was asked to speak, he complied and gave them a history lesson based on their own people, reminding them that the law could not justify their sins. He is telling them the only way of salvation is through Jesus. They were interested enough to invite him for a return engagement the following Sabbath.

This time Paul realized they were not going to accept his message and they were being abusive towards him. He said to them, 'Since you reject it (Jesus) we now turn to the Gentiles. That is what the Lord has commanded us, see verse 47.

Another reminder that faith alone is necessary for salvation; law (religion), righteousness and works have never provided salvation and never will according to the Bible. Jesus fulfilled (replaced) the law.
