BELIEF IN TRUTH

2nd Thessalonians 2:13: “But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because from the beginning God chose you to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth.”

Why were they chosen? As Paul said, ‘because they believed in the truth;’ what is truth? Jesus is truth and He is life and He is the way (John 14:6). When you believe then are you chosen; kind of like putting the cart in front of the horse.

Chosen or predestination can be controversial and even confusing, but let’s put it to bed by listening to the words of Jesus throughout the Gospel’s. As Jesus told Nicodemus in the garden; “I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water (natural birth) and the Spirit (born from above);” italics added by me for explanation of water and Spirit. Acceptance of Jesus by faith = salvation.

You don’t need me to tell you these things if you will only:

Read the Bible, read the Bible, read the Bible.

PUNISHMENT

2nd Thessalonians 1:9: “They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the majesty of his power.”

I am not a ‘fire and brimstone’ preacher, however I also do not hide from the word of God; I quote what it says.

There will be readers who will object to the meaning of this verse but it means what it says. If you are unsaved and don’t want to be on the receiving end of God’s wrath I suggest you seriously consider the alternative, which is to be on the receiving end of His saving grace (unmerited favor).

Readers of the Bible know God leaves nothing out; He tells it like it is. This is the reason I, personally, accept the Bible literally. The reason I end all my messages telling you all to read the Bible is for you to get to know the facts; then, personal opinion is rendered as it should be, useless and in most cases divisive. So what do you do?

Read the Bible and get the facts, i.e., God’s facts; it’s refreshing.

NO WRATH FOR THE SAVED

1st Thessalonians 5:9: “For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.” While there are a couple of opinions regarding the wrath to come I believe we should be concerned with salvation and the opportunities we have to help others find Jesus.

Controversies over areas that do not lead to salvation are divisive and confusing to unbelievers, in my opinion, and should be avoided. The mere fact that believers will avoid the wrath to come should motivate non-believers to seriously consider what the Bible has to say about salvation.

Opinions can be rendered useless when the Bible is read and accepted as the true, living word of God. Rather than be critical I would suggest you:

Read the Bible and get God’s opinion which isn’t opinion.

1st Thessalonians 4:4: ”…that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the heathen, who do not know God.”

How Would You Live If God Were Present? This thought occurred to me the other day and it certainly presents a challenge to everyone who loves and knows Jesus as personal Savior. I did discover that it does present a different frame of mind; as a matter of fact it is really exciting if one would consider that thought in every day living.

Most of us have heard about the acronym, WWJD; what would Jesus do. This is a great thought when we are confronted with a challenge in our reaction to life’s events. My acronym is a little different when you consider the presence of God in every waking moment of our lives. I am convinced it creates an atmosphere in which we are able to actually live more freely, in a spiritual sense; it is liberating.

Try it, you might like it; let me remind you it is much easier when you: Read your Bible.

THE COMPASSION OF PAUL

Thessalonians 3:7: “Therefore, brothers, in all our stress and persecution we were encouraged about you because of your faith.”

Paul had immeasurable faith in all the Saints and was greatly encouraged. Encouragement was important to him as it is to all of Jesus’ workers today. It is vital, in my opinion, we encourage all the Saints who are busy delivering the Good News of the Gospel’s. They need feedback to help them know they are reaching and helping others increase their faith and coming to know Jesus.

When was the last time you wrote a kind word to your Pastor, or Mentor, or Minister told him personally how much his messages mean to you? Why not take a moment, right now, and call him with a word of appreciation or write a short note telling him how much you appreciate his efforts?

This is my challenge to you today; He’ll appreciate it.

P S Don’t forget to read your Bible for your encouragement.

THE WORD OF GOD

Thessalonians 2:13: “And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you received from us, you accepted not as the word of men, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is at work in you who believe.”

Receiving is possible only when someone gives and God gave His Son to us; but we must accept Him, in faith, for our salvation. And as Paul says the word of God is at work in those who believe and He will work wonders if we give Him a chance. If He is a resident in you why not make Him president?

Even though Paul knew the Thessalonians had problems he was quite elated over their attitude toward God. Are you open to letting the Holy Spirit work in your life? You will be delighted at the result. As Paul has said, he wants to hear these words from Jesus; “Well done thou good and faithful servant.”

I don’t know about you but I would love to hear those words when I get home.

1st Thessalonians 1:10: “…and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead-Jesus, who rescued us from the coming wrath.”

Paul reiterates what we are to do while we are in these bodies awaiting the new bodies we will receive when we are finally with our Savior; what a glorious moment that will be. I can tell you from a personal perspective how grateful I am to know I will not be involved in the coming wrath.

Something that is rarely mentioned is the subject of rewards when we get to Heaven. I believe, based on what Paul says, there will be rewards in Heaven for those who have pleased the Lord and faithfully served Him while here on earth. Accepting Jesus as savior pleases God and our reward will be to spend eternity with Him. There are many workers worthy of extra rewards and I take my hat off to them. I was led to the Bible by a worker and his efforts afforded me the opportunity to hear God speak and offer me salvation, and all that was required of me was to accept His gift.

I have never regretted that decision and I am now spending the rest of my time here devoted to serving Him in such a way as to help others find Him as I did. Nothing pleases me more than to hear when someone has taken the faith step and accepted Jesus or maybe they were just encouraged because of the Bible verses in my messages. I was rescued and now I want to be a rescuer.

Reading the Bible will help you as it does me.

RESPONSIBLE LIVING

Colossians 3: 12: “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.”

Paul says it all; yes we are to live a life demonstrating the peace and calm worthy of a person who knows who he is and where he is going when he leaves this earth.

The Bible tells us that God will never allow anything to fall upon us that is too much for us to bear, 1st Corinthians 10:13: “No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you to be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.” That being said and receiving God’s gift of our Savior, living the life Paul wants us to should be a whole lot easier. God has a plan for everything, including us, and nothing is going to interfere; believe this and you’ll have His peace.

If you don’t have the peace of Jesus and would like to, why not pick up your Bible and read the Gospel of John?

It is my favorite; when I read it 45 years ago God spoke to me and showed me what I had to do to be assured of my place in Heaven. Time is of the essence, don’t wait, pick up your Bible and:

Read it with a sincere desire to know truth and you will.

FALSE TEACHING

Colossians 2:8: “See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ.”

I have written extensively on this subject in the hope people would not follow false teaching which comes from organizations such as religions and cults. The big question as to who or what is right is easily answered if one would look to the Bible exclusively. The Bible is the Word of God; if you believe this statement then why go further?

It is my opinion that if anyone is critical of the Bible in any way you can be rest assured that person can be classified as a non-believer or a false teacher. Revelation 22:19 says if anyone adds or takes away words from that prophecy, “God will take away their share in the tree of life.”

Verse 20: “Since you died with Christ to the basic principles of this world, why, as though you still belonged to it, do you submit to its rules…” In other words when you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you don’t need anything other than the teachings of Christ which are found in the Bible, exclusively.

Now you know why I always end my writings with: Discover the Truth by reading the Bible.

THE DOMINION OF DARKNESS

Colossians 1:13-14: “For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”

This is a very interesting and enlightening verse; rescued from where? From Hell that’s where; brought us where? To Jesus, that’s where.

As I have written before we are born into sin i.e., born under the Curse placed upon the world because of the sin and disobedience of Adam and Eve. Therefore, our natural born destiny is Hell and the only way to change that is the acceptance of Jesus Christ as our personal Savior. Jesus says it all when He states in no uncertain terms; “I am the way and the truth and the Life. No one comes to the father except through me.” Read John 14:6 and Romans 10:13. “…for, Everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved.” There are numerous scriptural verses in the Bible supporting this Truth. Please remember Jesus told Nicodemus in the garden that man must be born of the Spirit (accepting Jesus), as well as the flesh (natural birth).

Therefore, if you don’t want to stay in darkness, accept Jesus; if you want to go to Heaven, accept Jesus.

Reading the Bible daily is the plan for those who want the truth.

Philippians 2:1-2: “If you have any comfort from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose.”

I don’t know how anyone could add or explain more succinctly Paul’s impressions of Jesus’ character; it is the character every Born Again Christian should emulate.

Let us pray that we might be a duplication which is much easier if you would only: Read the Bible daily

TO LIVE IS CHRIST

Philippians 1:21: “For me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.” Talk about commitment, I do believe Paul had it. Paul knew where he would be when his last breath would be taken and yet his unselfish desire to help and show others the Way was his only concern. We have a great deal to be thankful for in Paul.

It certainly is a good feeling to know where believers will be spending their eternity. I do look forward to the day when I will see my family who are already there. Do you look forward to that day? Do you even think about it? If not may I suggest you contemplate that thought each day; it will enhance your day and provide a feeling of joy which will help others enjoy their day. Great attitudes are contagious.

Reading the Bible each day is the best medicine, like an apple a day keeps the doctor away, reading the Bible each day keeps Satan away. So why not: Read a passage or two each day.

BATTLING THE DEVIL

Ephesians 6:12: “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of the dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” In other words; the Devil.

Many are unaware that Satan is the Prince of Power of the air; his influence in the world and in people is inexhaustible; and he has many followers. He cannot be in more than one place simultaneously; therefore he has many workers doing his will in the lives of the unsaved. The only thing he can do to the children of God is try to destroy their testimony. Are you a child of God, if not, why not?

Our (children of God) only weapon against him is prayer and it will win the battle, but it won’t win the war. God will ultimately defeat him once and for all in the last days when God will cast him into the lake of fire forever.

In the meantime we can be armed with ammunition that is ours for the taking by:

Reading the Bible each day.

There is a book called ‘Satan is Alive and Well.’ It would be very well for you to read it. One thought: Would you go into battle without armor or weapons? No? Then I would encourage you to find out all you can about Satan because whether you like it or not he is at war with you.

BE IMITATORS

Ephesians 5:1: “Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”

There are 3 considerations in this beautiful verse we should contemplate daily:

       1) We are loved by God.

       2) He wants us to live a life of love as He is.

       3) Remember the sacrifice Jesus made for us.

If we could live life in this manner we would not only be imitators of God, we would be a great example to the unsaved by leading an exemplary life. This is the way we will live in Heaven; in the meantime let’s strive for the life He has always desired for us. I remember an expression that tells us to ‘walk in love and be a blessing to all.’

The most effective way we can be imitators of God is to get to know Him by becoming intimate with Him and we can do that by reading His word. Romans 10:17 says, “Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.”

FORGIVENESS

Ephesians 4:32: “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” The forgiveness of God is true, absolutely true and harbors no grudge or memory. I’m sure we have all heard someone say; ‘I’ll forgive you but I will never forget…’ This is certainly not God’s forgiveness; it is apparent true forgiveness (the kind God wants us to have) means forgetting as well.

We will probably always have an image, if you will, of the event in our memory bank; but at the time of forgiveness we must move on. I believe forgiving one in the same vein as did God, leads us to a very special kind of healing. It truly would be good for all to always remember God’s attitude toward us sinners and the best way to accomplish that is to:

Read the Bible and learn God’s ways.

  YES INDEED AND AMEN

Ephesians 3:6: “This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise of Christ Jesus.” I wrote ‘Amen’ in the title to emphasize the fact that the Gentiles are heirs to the saving grace of God because of the love He has for us.

Indeed it is a privilege we should be invited to share the Good News of salvation and become a member of His family. In a peculiar sort of way I am grateful for the fact Israel rejected Jesus because it opened the door for so many. Even though Israel rejected Jesus as the Messiah He still has an open door policy to anyone who will accept Him. And in the end times there will be another ‘open door’ for Israel.

You can join the many Jews today who are accepting Jesus as their Savior by confessing your sins to Him; ask for forgiveness and receive His gift. As the Oak Ridge Boys sang the line that goes something like this; ‘the first step to Jesus is on your knees.’

Read the Bible to learn why you need to get on your knees.

YES INDEED

Hi Everyone:

Ephesians 2:14: "For he himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by abolishing in his flesh the law with its commandments and regulations." Thank you Jesus for your sacrifice that makes it so easy for me and anyone else to no longer be under the Curse, i.e., under the control of Satan. We, the Gentiles, were always separated from Christ (verse 12) and now we are one as it was with the Jewish nation.

In this chapter are two great revelations: we are no longer under any law or regulation and the death and resurrection of Jesus assures us of our salvation, providing of course, we accept Jesus as our Savior.

"For by grace are you saved and not by works, lest anyone boast." Verse 8 (partial).

PREDESTINATION

Ephesians 1:4: "For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight."
This verse, as many others of this nature, has and always will be controversial and be the basis for many conversations.

Some unsaved people say, "Oh well, I guess I'm not chosen so it doesn't matter what I do." That is precisely the thought process Satan fosters; in this way he can keep the lost, lost. This fatalistic thinking is wrong; let me explain why. If a person is not saved (has not accepted Jesus as Savior) and chooses to refuse to accept Jesus as Savior, then it is their choice. Please understand all people are born under the Curse and each person's destiny is hell, unless that person decides to accept Jesus as Savior who died on the cross for anyone willing to believe and accept Him as Savior.

There is no mystery, shouldn't be any controversy, quite the contrary it is simple. It's up to each one to accept Jesus or remain in the state in which they were born. Remember what Jesus told Nicodemus in the garden? "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water (natural birth) and the Spirit (accepting God's gift, His Son Jesus Christ)." See John 3:5.

Have you chosen your destiny or have you simply decided not to do anything? Doing nothing is doing something; it adds a bit of joy to Satan's day, every day.

FREEDOM

Galatians 5:1: "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery."

I am always comforted when scripture supports my convictions that are Biblically founded. I have been on the 'band wagon' so many times regarding us saints not getting trapped by Satan, I'm beginning to feel like a broken record, oops today it would be a CD. It is a point though and we must always be watchful we don't allow ourselves to be influenced by any source of info other than the Bible.

Paul makes a big issue in his letters regarding this issue. Personally I live with an absolute conviction if it isn't in the Bible, I am not interested; I pray more saints feel the same.

Read the Bible and be ready when he attacks.

REDEMPTION ON A TREE

Galatians 3:13: "Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: 'Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree." We are redeemed through Jesus' death and resurrection, i.e. for those who choose to believe in Him.

There are powerful messages in Galatians; nothing glamorous, just the truth. Verse 25: "Now that faith has come, we are no longer under the supervision of the law." (the 10 commandments)

The more one reads the Bible the more convinced one should be that faith, and only faith, is what the Bible says   leads us to redemption. Righteous, goodness, and obedience to the law or some other set of rules can only lead us away from the truth.

The truth can be found in the Bible, the living word of God, so why not read it?

JUSTIFIED BY GRACE

Galatians 2:16: "…know that man is not justified by observing the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ, so we too have put our faith in Christ Jesus, that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by observing the law, because by observing the law no one will be justified."

Enough said; observance of the law is out because if it were not, it would mean that anyone could earn their way to heaven; this would be contrary to the words of Jesus when He said, "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved." (Acts 4:12) Romans 10:13 says, "…for, Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

I can't improve on those words except to say His grace (unmerited favor) is boundless. If you would like to experience His grace I would suggest you: Read the Bible to 'hear' His words.

Peace and salvation; could we ask for more? And yet Paul was astonished when the Galatians turned to a different Gospel than the one he preached.

Today the same problem persists and will until the Lord comes back. So many religions; so many preachers; so many telling everyone else how right and how wrong everyone is. What is right? What is wrong? Who is right and who is wrong?

The ONLY way one will know the answer for his/herself is to read the Bible with a sincere desire for the Truth. If you will sincerely ask He will tell you; He will open your mind's ear and he will speak to you.

THE FINAL CHAPTER

2nd Corinthians: The letters to the Corinthian Church have been letters of instruction and reprimand because of the problems inherent in the Church. Paul was consumed with a desire to help them and I believe he did. His concerns were no different than any Church leader today. The problems began with and will end with the final blow to Satan when God finally casts him into hell for eternity.

The believers will reign with Jesus in Heaven for eternity. My question to you is whether or not you will be with Jesus? If you do not know, but care, then I suggest you get on your knees. As the song writer has said; 'the first step to heaven is to get on your knees.'

And say: Father I recognize I am lost because of sin which separates me from you, I confess all my sins, ask your forgiveness and want you to know I believe Jesus died for me on the cross; the Bible tells me He died to pay for my sins and set me free and I believe it. I accept your gift of Jesus. AMEN!

If you said that prayer with a sincere heart and believe in all your heart with what you just said I'll see you there. May God richly bless you.

SUFFICIENT GRACE

2nd Corinthians 12:9 "…For my grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness…"

His grace, indeed, is sufficient,

I believe we can all agree on one thing, when the going gets tough we get closer to God; when adversity strikes we call on Him. He is reminding us His grace is sufficient for us; but we must remember His words.

Why do we have to wait when until something over which we have no control, happens? Why not appeal to Him every day with the same emotions? Why not thank Him every chance we get?

Let's make that chance and the best way is to: Read the Bible every day and every day give thanks.

FORGIVENESS UNSURPASSED

ACTS 3: This chapter vividly illustrates a type of forgiveness that is most difficult to understand when one considers all the events in the betrayal, torture, humiliation and crucifixion of Jesus. This is clearly a demonstration of a love that is truly one way, (Agape in the Greek, an unconditional love that requires nothing in return). Truly we have a great God.

One day Peter and John were on their way to the Temple and they came across a man who was crippled from birth. He was placed at the gate and would beg for money. As soon as he saw Peter he asked for money and Peter said to him that he did not have any but he would give him what he could. Peter then said in verse 6, "in the name of Jesus Christ, walk." Peter took him by the hand and the man instantly got up and began to walk and jump with joy, he was perfectly healed. The people in the Temple could hardly believe their eyes and were completely astonished. Peter asked them why they stared at them as if they had accomplished this miraculous healing. He told them that his healing was a result of his faith in Jesus, verse 12, "Men of Israel, why does this surprise you? Why do you stare at us as if by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk? Peter laid it on them accusing them of killing the very author of life.

We now see the truly loving forgiveness of God when Peter told the crowd they had acted in ignorance and in spite of that God was willing to forgive them and give them everlasting life. Indeed this is forgiveness, unsurpassed. Peter told them to 'repent of your sins and they will be forgiven.' Peter then explained to them how the prophets of old had predicted all that had happened. Verse 24: "Indeed, all the prophets from Samuel on, as many as have spoken, have foretold these days."

Repent, believe, and accept the free gift of life through Jesus and you will be saved. All His love makes it possible for anyone, regardless of their prior life, to be part of God's family. Eternity is eternal, where do you want to be?

ANGEL OF LIGHT

2nd Corinthians 11:13, 14 "For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, masquerading as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light."

Isn't it amazing how things change and yet are the same? One of the problems Paul was trying to expose was the consequence of false teachers; impersonators. Don't we have the same thing today? Hasn't it always?

How do we know the difference?

The Bible is the only source of truthful and reliable information for those who believe the Bible is the inspired word of God. If you can believe and accept that as truth, then it will be easy to know right from wrong. I follow the advice of the person who was gracious enough to take the time to show me the way to Jesus. He said, "Nick, if you hear something and it isn't in the Bible, don't believe it; if it is then believe it." Just ask the person to show you where. When you are knowledgeable of His word, strange as it may seem, you will know when something is amiss. Better yet, read the Bible and be prepared.

THE LORD COMMENDS

2nd Corinthians 10:17, 18, But, "Let him who boasts boast in the Lord. For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends."

It is obvious the church in Corinth was exasperating Paul to the point of sheer frustration, but he never lost his cool, so to speak. There were problems and Paul was quite restrained trying to bring out the best in them. We have plenty of church groups today similar to the Corinthian church and there always will be.

In my opinion, problems can be overcome by each individual to a degree, by tending to his /her own garden. A country is strong when the individual family is strong; a church is strong when the individual member is strong. We, as individuals, are responsible for our own actions in the same way a group is responsible for its actions. GIFTS TO THE POOR

2nd Corinthians 9:9 As it is written: "He has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor; his righteousness endures forever." This is another affirmation of the love and generosity of the Lord; providing for all who would believe. He has provided for us all that we need; all we need do is to believe and enjoy His fruits.

The reason I am doing this ministry is to drive home to all the messages of believing and accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and for those who have already made the decision of accepting Jesus as Savior to help spread the Good News.

Say this prayer and I believe I will see you in Heaven: 'Lord God, I am a sinner and know that sin is keeping me from you, I believe Jesus died for me on the cross and I accept your free gift of salvation. Amen!' Read His word every day and delight in the Good News.

HE BECAME POOR

2nd Corinthians 8:9 "For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich."

He left all He had for us; He was humiliated for us; He suffered for us; He died for us; He rose from the grave for us and ascended to Heaven for us. He did all this to make it easy for us to become His children; to be born again so that we can proclaim victory in Him.

A simple prayer of acceptance of His free gift will assure you of an eternity of bliss; an eternity of reigning with Him; an opportunity to personally thank Him for all He has done for anyone willing to accept His free gift of Jesus, our Savior and the only Savior the world has or ever will know. Read the Bible and discover the richness of His act of poverty.

RESPECT FOR HIM

2nd Corinthians 7:1 "Since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of respect for God." Amen I say to that.

We are not perfect, we cannot be perfect because we are not God, but we can try to remember who we are at all times. We are his children, He is our Father and we should strive to honor Him in everything we say or do. Yes we will fail, yes we will do things that are not honoring to Him, but He is loving and compassionate; He understands. But let's always try our very best; it's easier to do if you read the Bible for your life direction.

HIS FAVOR

Hi Everyone:

2nd Corinthians 6:2: For he says, "In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you." Paul continues saying, "I tell you, now is the time of God's favor, now is the day of salvation."

My friends the message is plain and to the point; He heard us, provided Jesus for us and now is the time to accept His gift if you haven't already done so. Not tomorrow, not later, but now; get on your bended knee, confess your sins to Him, ask Him to forgive you and tell Him you will accept His gift of Jesus as your personal Savior. You really don't want the alternative.

This is why we were all born; to confirm this, pick up your Bible and read it for the truth.                      No. 417

OUR HEAVENLY DWELLING

Hi Everyone:

2nd Corinthians 5:1, 5 "Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, not built by human hands. Now it is God who has made us for this very purpose and has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come."

We, those who have accepted Jesus as their personal Savior, were created by God for the very purpose of spending eternity with Him in Heaven. Contrary to some people, I love to accept what the Bible says, literally. My present situation is temporary I know, as well as everyone else knows regarding their temporary abode, but who knows what their future abode is? Only those who have accepted Jesus as Savior.

Hi Everyone:

2nd Corinthians 4:8, "We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed." Do you feel like that some days? Why was Paul able to continue despite his sufferings, despite his feelings?

Paul never forgot who he was and why he was doing what he was doing. He was called to his ministry and was determined to deliver the message of salvation regardless of circumstance. Praise the Lord.

We, too, must never forget who we are and why we are His children, His soldiers, if you will. We are saved, we will never lose our salvation and we can always rejoice, as Paul did, regardless of our circumstances. Don't forget to share your blessings with the lost.

Yes, it is easy to say and at times difficult to live that way, but it will be so much easier even after you become His child simply by continuing, daily to:

Hi Everyone:

2nd Corinthians 3:7, 8 "Now if the ministry that brought death, which was engraved in letters on stone, came with glory, so that the Israelites could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of its glory, fading though it was, will not the ministry of the Spirit be even more glorious?"

Paul is contrasting the 10 commandments (the old covenant) and Jesus (the new covenant) saying that the law could not save anyone, whereas faith in Jesus could save everyone who believed. Some religions have as part of their doctrine the necessity of having to obey the law. Paul says no way; it's Jesus' way or no way at all.

I have always said that it is best to be spiritual (following Jesus) and not be religious (following the 10 commandments). I know this will irritate some people because their beliefs and trust are in their religious convictions and not 100% Jesus. This is a good example of why I will tell people to read the Bible to get the truth, until the Lord takes me home, so please, for your sake:

PAUL'S TRUST IN GOD

Hi Everyone:

2nd Corinthians 2:14 "But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him." It is quite obvious that Paul trusts God and does not concern himself about the possible consequences of his bold and daring ministry.

Are we spreading a fragrance of Him? If so, what kind; if not, why not? Whether or not we consider the fact that we are sending messages to others, indeed we are; be they negative or positive depends on our attitude at that moment. I believe we all need an attitude adjustment from time to time and the best source for that kind of help is God,

If we allow Him to lead us, if we trust in Him as Paul did, spreading a positive fragrance for Him would be so much easier and more importantly, very effective in winning lost souls.

We have our salvation; let's share it.

LOOK TO HIM, ALWAYS

Hi Everyone:

2nd Corinthians 1:10 "He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us as you help us by your prayers."

The power of prayer can not be underestimated nor should it be. Paul understood this very well when he informed the Corinthians of the many perils they faced; he made sure they understood how badly he and the brothers with him needed constant prayer.

The same message is applicable today, especially when Satan is so actively trying to destroy what moral fiber we have left, if any at all. We must become prayer warriors; it is a battle field and our only weapon is prayer.

We need to become diligent and the best way I know how is to:

STAND STRONG

Hi Everyone:

1st Corinthians 16:13, 14 "Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. Do everything in love." Paul's words of encouragement to the brothers in Corinth were as necessary then as they are today for all of us who stand strong in our faith.

In my opinion, the world is such that we need to be bold, brave, and willing to stand against the tide of moral decay in our land. We need to be ready and willing to strike out (no pun intended to baseball fans) against the ill wind being blown against us by Satan; it is a forceful wind and getting stronger and stronger as we get closer and closer to the return of Jesus.

We can be most effective against the devil with prayer and as Paul says, 'do everything in love.' Satan cannot be effective against loving and praying Christians; they are his challenge and he cannot overcome prayer and love.

All of us can be strong, loving, and effective by:

HOW MUCH PROOF?

Hi Everyone:

1st Corinthians 15:3-8 "For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. After that he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time; most of them are still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born."

The aforementioned speaks for itself; too many witnesses to dismiss as proof positive. It's difficult to believe how people can deny the fact that Jesus lived and died. What he proclaimed was the way to salvation; hard hearted people will never accept this truth.

Those who confess their sins to Him and accept His truth spoken in the Bible will never experience spiritual death (never be separated from Him); His truth can be found when you:

PROPHECY

Hi Everyone:

1st Corinthians 14:1 "Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy." Teaching is one of the most effective ways of building the church as Paul so eagerly stresses in this chapter.

Teaching broadens our knowledge which increases and deepens our faith; it strengthens the family of believers. It helps believers to lead non-believers to the saving grace of Jesus. We learn when we teach others and learn when we are being taught; an excellent reason for fellowship with other believers.

When we read the Bible we expose ourselves to the greatest teacher of all time (Jesus); the very reason I end all my writings with:

LOVE

1st Corinthians 13 is known for Paul's discourse on love. Paul compares love to all quality's one may possess and makes his case for love being the most important of all. Personally I don't believe a human being can possess all aspects of love; I believe also Paul is describing the love of God. However we can certainly try to exhibit some if not all of these characteristics.

It could be easier to practice the kind of love Paul is describing if we could imagine ourselves being the recipient of that love from others.

Another aspect of this chapter is the fact that what we see now is only a partial and obscured view of what it is to be a child of God. That day when we will see it all is in the future, but to know we will see it all requires an acceptance of God's gift to us; our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. If you have yet to make that decision I would suggest you visit John 3: and read what Jesus is telling Nicodemus in the garden and then read verse 16: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT

Hi Everyone:

1st Corinthians 12: 7-10 "Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues."

Wouldn't it be wonderful to receive one of these gifts? Yes it would but first one must be a child of the Most High God. What does one need to do to become a Born Again Christian? Accept the free gift of God; belief in and acceptance of the fact that Jesus died on the cross and was resurrected on the 3rd day and ascended into Heaven to be with the Father where He now resides until He comes back to redeem His Church, (us).

A simple prayer in faith: 'Father I believe that Jesus died on the cross to pay for my sins to which I confess, I ask Jesus to come into my heart.' If you said that simple prayer of acceptance and you sincerely believe what you prayed God will hear you and welcome you to His family.

Please take the time to read John 3: 3-7 to hear Jesus speak.

THE LORD'S SUPPER

Hi Everyone:

1st Corinthians 11:24 "and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, 'This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me." Jesus also gave this command regarding His shed blood.

The Lord 's Supper is an expression of worship and an opportunity for us to remember why He came to earth and what he accomplished while He was here.

I spent many years attending services in a Plymouth Brethren group and, in my opinion they have the best way of expressing this particular celebration. They gather together each week (believers only), without a leader (the Holy Spirit is present) and anyone who has something to contribute to the celebration for the benefit of the group stands and speaks. It is a wonderful experience and very personal (with Him). At an appropriate time during the meeting someone passes the bread and wine (grape juice), thereby expressing the wishes of our Lord and Savior.

As you can appreciate we can learn so much by:

THE BELIEVER'S FREEDOM

Hi Everyone:

1st Corinthians 10:24" " Nobody should seek his own good, but the good of others." Doesn't this fit right in with Jesus' second commandment to 'love others as you would yourself?" What a world this would be if we all considered other's needs over ours.

That day is coming for all believer's when we enter Heaven; It will be a utopian paradise and He'll be there for our worship and praise. Until then we can rest in the knowledge of His presence and care.

Psalm 139:16 is such a wonderful expression of God's grace for each of us: "…your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be." He knew us, He knows us and we are His forever. If you have a personal relationship with Jesus, you can rest in the peace of knowing your name is in the Book of Life. You can have a personal relation with Him and the Way is by reading His Word and accept His invitation.

I BECAME LIKE ONE

Hi Everyone:

1st Corinthians 9:21 "To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God's law but am under Christ's law), so as to win those not having the law." As Paul's sole purpose was to win souls for Christ he adapted himself to circumstance, yet never foregoing his commitment to Jesus; 'but am under Christ's law.'

One might suggest Paul lived under the restraints of the Old Testament law, based on this passage, but I believe that isn't the case. Paul knew very well that the law could not save anyone; he was merely trying to accommodate the situation so as to effectively deliver the Good News to those in need; brilliant I'd say.

To assume any religion can lead one to Jesus Christ can be a huge mistake, to avoid the consequences it is in the best interests of everyone to:
